General Steps to install Custom ROM and Kernel:

Few things to take notes:

1. Flashing new ROM will void your warranty. I do not responsible for any damage to your phone. Flash at your own risk.
2. Always flash ROM first then only custom Kernel. This is because all ROM has their own Kernel. By flashing the custom Kernel after ROM, the custom Kernel can only replace the Kernel of the ROM which is also known as stock kernel.
3. Apps,sms and call logs can be backup by using the following apps:

• AppBak
• SMS Backup and Restore
• Call Logs Backup and Restore

Preparation to flash a custom ROM:

1. Clock work mode (CWM) is needed before flash a new ROM.
2. For a first time new users, CWM needs to be installed by using ODIN.
3. ODIN, ariesVE and USB driver can be downloaded from here.
4. Then download the lastest CWM from here
5. Install the USB driver.
6. RUN the ODIN at your PC.
7. Put AriesVE.ops in OPS
8. Put the downloaded CWM file (tar) in OnePackage.
9. Turn off the phone and put it in download mode by pressing "POWER + Vol Down + HOME" at the same time.
10. Connect the phone to the PC via USB cable.
11. After the ODIN shows the phone is connected, click START.
12. Be patient and wait all installation done automatically.
13. CWM is installed.
14. For further newer version CWM in the future, it can be flashed by using old version of CWM.

Things to take note:

1. Some Custom ROM has their own specific version of CWM to flash it. Try to read the first several post at least.

Getting New to flash ROM:

1.  Download the custom ROM and Gapps.
2. Sometimes the Gapps are provided specifically but sometime is not. If it is not, then you can download the latest gapps from the XDA website.
3. Store the downloaded files into your phone External SD card.
4. Boot into recovery by pressing "Vol UP + POWER + MENU" until samsung logo appear and quickly release the "POWER + MENU" but still pressing on Vol UP button.
5. Wipe data, cache and Dalvik Cache (remember the dalvik cache is in the advance setting).
6. Flash the custom ROM.
7. Flash the Gapps.
8. Wipe cache and dalvik cache (Not the DATA). 
9. Reboot and enjoy.

To upgrade from previous version of the custom ROM:

1. Download the latest ROM and put it in the external sd card.
2. Boot into recovery.
3. Wipe cache and Dalvik cache.
4. Flash the downloaded ROM.
5. Wipe cache and Dalvik cache.
6. Reboot.

To install custom Kernel:

1. Download the custom Kernel.
2. Put it in external SD card.
3. Boot into recovery.
4. Wipe cache and Dalvik cache.
5. Flash the custom kernel.
6. Wipe cache and Dalvik cache.
7. Reboot.
